How Does Quebec Immigration Work?
Quebec manages its immigration system independently from the Canadian federal government. The process involves two main steps:
- Obtain a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ): This certificate shows that Quebec has selected you to settle in the province.
- Apply for Canadian Permanent Residence: With a CSQ, you can apply for permanent residence through the federal government, which assesses health and security issues.
Quebec Immigration Programs
Quebec offers several immigration programs:
Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSW)
Designed for skilled workers who can contribute to Quebec’s workforce, the QSW uses a points-based system similar to Express Entry. Points are given for age, language proficiency, and work experience. French proficiency and connections to Quebec are highly valued.
Quebec Experience Program (PEQ)
The PEQ is for those with work or study experience in Quebec. It requires intermediate-level French proficiency and offers a fast track to permanent residency.
Quebec Immigration Pilot Programs
Quebec has pilot programs for workers in AI, IT, VFX, food processing, and healthcare. These programs provide pathways to permanent residence for professionals in these sectors, with some requiring advanced-intermediate French proficiency.
Quebec Business Immigration Programs
For investors and entrepreneurs, Quebec offers:
- Quebec Immigrant Investor Program: Requires a personal net worth of CAD $2 million and a minimum investment of CAD $1.2 million.
- Quebec Entrepreneur Program: For those starting or buying a business in Quebec. It has two streams—one for creating a new business with support from an incubator or accelerator and one for acquiring an existing business.
- Quebec Self-Employed Program: For entrepreneurs starting their own business in Quebec, with a minimum start-up deposit of $50,000 in Montreal or $25,000 outside Montreal.
Why Choose Quebec Immigration Programs?
Quebec offers unique opportunities for personal and professional growth. Its business landscape is ripe for innovation and entrepreneurship.
